In the Beginning: Cake Affairs & Culinary Creations

Owner and sales director Amber Fraser is no stranger to a good looking cake. The University of Texas at Austin grad (she majored in advertising) has been in the catering industry for more than two decades, working her way up from the hotel biz with Doubletree and Promus Hotel Brands. Amber then spent three years as the Catering Director of Sweetwater Country Club, focusing on the social market and member service. She launched Cakes & Culinary creations in 2003 then merged with Cake Affairs in early 2007. The latter was formerly owned by John Kmiecik, who spent more than 15 years in the hospitality industry and was able share to his expertise before retiring.

The company as it is today is one of the largest bakeries of its kind in the Houston area, and all of Texas. Their focus is creating boutique-quality cakes for brides around the city and beyond. Amber’s attention to detail and amazing ability to go above and beyond the call has enabled her to bring a hands on approach to culinary marketing and wedding planning.
